8:00 am to Dark — Field trip available free of charge to all symposium participants. The intention is for this rendezvous to be available all day, for you to enjoy at your convenience. Come early, come late, come for fifteen minutes or several hours. This gig is for YOU!

Unionville Rendezvous

Unionville is one of Nevada’s best-preserved mining towns. It’s not a ghost town, because twenty or so folks still live there. It was active in the 1870s and was the first county seat of Humboldt County (it’s now in Pershing County). It boasts a Mark Twain cabin, and a really cool one-room schoolhouse. Photographers can climb just a little ways up the south-facing side of the canyon for nice views of Buena Vista Creek and its riparian zone.

This Rendezvous is part outing, part field trip, part educational, part Kumbaya around the fire circle … an opportunity for the Shooting the West family to do something together besides sit in the auditorium at the Convention Center. There are rumors that some of the local residents of the Humboldt Range may drop in for a visit.

We’ll have a warming fire and coffee. Several of our instructors will be on hand — just ask if you would like help or advice.

Return to the main Symposium Schedule.
