Introduction to Photographic Craft

Since the invention of the daguerreotype in 1839, cameras have been getting “smarter”, allowing photographers to increasingly disengage from the process of making images. There is an approach that reverses this trend, and allows photographers to make pictures in much the same way a painter or sculptor creates a piece. The camera is reduced to the role of simply capturing the image at the end of the creative process.

This Craft Approach will hook some for life and bore others to tears. But everyone will learn fundamental photographic principles that will affect the way they work, no matter what approach they use to make images.
